Therion aus Schweden sind einzigartig und gehören mit Sicherheit zu den einflussreichsten Metal Bands dieses Planeten.
Bereits seit Anfang der Neunziger Jahre treiben die „Masters of Symphonic Opera Metal“ ihr Unwesen. Mit „Celebrators of Becoming” veröffentlichen Therion das wahrscheinlich bisher detaillierteste und umfangreichste Boxset in der Geschichte des Heavy Metal!
Was soll man nur zu etwas schreiben oder besser gesagt wo soll man anfangen über etwas zu schreiben, das einen, zumindest vom Umfang her, umhaut. Das vier DVD + DCD Boxset, das Therion auf den geneigten Fan loslassen, umfasst fast zehn Studen Spielzeit, in denen man allehand, von einem kompletten Konzert, über älteres Bildmaterial bis hin zu allen Videos, geboten bekommt.
Fangen wir mit DVD 1 an, auf der sich ein Konzert, das in Mexiko mitgeschnitten wurde, befindet. Die Bildqualität und auch der Sound lassen ein wenig zu wünschen übrig. Das Bild wirkt in vielen Passagen schwammig und der Sound wirkt zu roh, da gibt es auf dem Live-Sektor besseres. Auf DVD 2 bekommt man Mitschnitte von Konzerten der 2004er Tour, die sich über Amerika und Europa erstreckte, von jedem der beiden Kontinente geboten. Die Qualität ist dabei recht schwankent, was auch mit den örtlichen Begebenheiten zu tun hat.
Wenn man noch nicht umgefallen ist und dann zu DVD 3 kommt, bekommt man die komplette Show vom WOA 2001, sämtliche Videoclips und Studiokram geboten. Schluss endlich gibt es auf DVD 4 Material zu sehen, das Therion über ihre gesamte Schaffensphase aufgenommen haben. Dabei kann man sich natürlich denken, dass die Qualität gerade bei den älteren Sachen nicht die beste ist.
Die beiden CDs, die noch dabei sind, beinhalten das Konzert, das man bereits auf DVD 1 bewundern durfte, welches nochmal gut zwei Stunden an Spielzeit hinaufpackt.
Insgesamt kann man sagen, dass man mit „Celebrators of Becoming“ die ultimative Therion-Collection in den Händen hält, auch wenn hier und da die Qualität nicht ganz stimmt, aber da kann man schon mal bei gut zehn Stunden Spielzeit ein Auge zudrücken. Also liebe Freunde: Ab zum Plattendealer und 45€ berappen.
